Our Story

A passion project, finally given room.

Three Roots Woodworks started after one of my kids left for college and I found myself with evenings and weekends that finally belonged to me. I've loved woodworking for decades — now I get to give it the time it deserves, building pieces out of the garage at home, one board at a time.

Woodworking, for me, is about patience and attention to detail. The way a chisel should sound. How to read grain before you cut. The satisfaction of a joint that fits just right. These are things I've learned over years of quiet evenings in the shop.

Every piece that leaves the shop is made by me, start to finish. I don't run production lines and I don't subcontract anything out. If a board has a small mark from where a hand-plane caught the grain, that mark stays — it's part of the piece, and part of how it was made.

I work mostly in domestic hardwoods — walnut, maple, cherry — and I take my time. Some pieces are quick; others sit on the bench for weeks. Either way, I want it right before it ships.

What "Three Roots" means

The name and logo were designed by my middle son, Colson. The three roots represent my children — they are my foundation, and I am growing this for them.
